2 charged with organized retail crime at Rehoboth outlets

Two Kent County residents are facing charges following thefts and related crimes that occurred at Tanger Outlets in Rehoboth Beach last weekend.

Troopers were called to the complex to investigate a shoplifting incident. According to Delaware State Police, a woman who was identified as a suspect provided a false name and date of birth before fleeing toward an occupied minivan. That vehicle was found in an adjacent parking lot.

Police said the occupants fled and left a 4-year-old child in the vehicle.

24-year-old Tramel Wright of Hartly was found in a local business and was taken into custody without incident. Police said Wright was in possession of some suspected heroin.

State Police said 30-year-old Shakiel Carter of Dover was taken into custody at a nearby supermarket. Stolen merchandise from several stores with a total value of more than $1,700 was found during a search of the minivan.
