Henderson PD arrest nearly three dozen in retail theft sting

Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – In an effort to curb retail theft during the busy holiday shopping season, the Henderson Police Department’s (HPD) Investigative Services Division Property Unit has conducted two successful “Retail Theft Blitz” operations. These initiatives, aimed at reducing theft in major shopping areas, have already resulted in the recovery of more than $4,273 in stolen goods and 35 arrests.

While specific locations of these operations remain undisclosed, HPD reported significant outcomes, including the apprehension of repeat offenders, individuals with active arrest warrants, and suspects linked to larger Organized Retail Theft (ORT) cases.

Collaborative Efforts to Fight Retail Crime

The operations were a coordinated effort involving:

  • HPD Property Detectives and Patrol Division
  • Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Organized Retail Crime (ORC) unit
  • Loss Prevention teams from local retailers

This collaboration between law enforcement and retailers demonstrates the importance of partnerships in addressing retail theft, particularly during high-traffic shopping periods.

Ongoing Initiatives Through the Holiday Season

The blitz operations, which began before Thanksgiving, are part of a larger strategy to ensure safe and secure shopping experiences throughout the holidays. These targeted efforts focus on identifying and apprehending individuals who engage in shoplifting and ORT activities, which often impact both retailers and consumers.

HPD’s proactive approach highlights its commitment to protecting local businesses, reducing theft-related losses, and deterring criminal activity during one of the busiest times of the year.

Shoppers are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to local law enforcement. Meanwhile, HPD plans to continue these operations through the holiday season, reinforcing their dedication to keeping Henderson’s shopping corridors secure.
