CANOGA PARK – Authorities have arrested four adults and two juveniles in connection with a flash-mob style robbery at the Westfield Topanga Mall, where over $90,000 worth of merchandise was stolen in a matter of minutes.
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) reported that around 5:15 p.m. on Friday, 12 masked suspects targeted two stores in the mall located on the 21700 block of Victory Boulevard. Video footage shows the group, dressed in hoodies and masks, rushing into the stores, grabbing high-end designer handbags and clothing, and fleeing within minutes.
The LAPD’s Organized Retail Crime Task Force quickly launched an investigation, identifying suspects and the vehicles believed to be involved. By 9:40 p.m. that same evening, officers from LAPD’s Southwest Division located and detained a vehicle with five occupants allegedly connected to the robbery.
Three adults and two juveniles were arrested and booked on robbery charges. They were identified as:
- Joshua Jones, 22, of Los Angeles, with bail set at $1,085,000.
- Amaya McDonald, 19, of Los Angeles, with bail set at $150,000.
- Justin Jones, 18, of Los Angeles, with bail set at $150,000.
Approximately two hours later, officers from the Huntington Beach Police Department apprehended a female driver in a separate vehicle, discovering stolen items linked to the crime. Rajene Robinson, 26, of Los Angeles, was arrested for felony possession of stolen property and is being held without bail.
The identities of the two juvenile suspects have not been released due to their age. The case remains under investigation.
